JAMES C. FINN MEMORIAL TROPHY

Established in 1975 in honor and loving memory of Dr. Jim Finn by his family:  Mrs. Matrena F. Hunter, Dr. Drew Finn, Dr. Dale Finn, Suzie Phillips, and Debbie Clark.

The trophy itself was made personally by Mr. Ray Perry [GHS '64 and coach from 1968 to 1970 of the GCY AAU team; later established the now-gone Westover Swim Club] as were the plaques presented with it.

Purpose:  To honor the swimmer who exemplifies the following qualities:  "great sportsmanship, team spirit, and desire to excel.  He or she need not be a consistent champion, but rather one who works hard to improve and dedicates himself or herself wholeheartedly to swimming."

This trophy was established in 1975 to honor Dr. Jim Finn, founder and guiding force behind forming the Community Swim Association.  All four of his children were excellent swimmers.
